Children’s Books – My top Picks

I have to say I love reading, sadly I rarely get the chance to pick up a good adult book but when I do I become completely engrossed and immersed in whatever it is I’m reading.

This passion for books is sadly something that has not passed on to my eldest despite my best efforts. I used to read to him every night and as he got older I read the whole Beast Quest series to him, he loved being read to.  That is sadly where the love ended, for him, to read himself was like torture and the more he was encouraged the more he pulled away. I hope in time he will learn and discover a love of reading but until then we’ll persevere and work on the young one!

We have some beautiful children’s books and I love to read to the children. I make up voices for the characters and where possible encourage the children to join in with the story, helping them to interact and understand what’s going on too. It’s an absolute joy.

My all-time favourite to read to the children is Room on the Broom by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler, it’s such a fun and scary story you can really get the children’s imaginations going! (Also I do an awesome witch voice!)

So I’ve complied a short list of some of our favourites for you to look up and maybe give them a try with your own little ones!
